Today, local people need to be sold on the improvements new infrastructure and other controversial projects will deliver in their daily life and routines.
A local community that is opposed, passionate and vocal, can slow down developments, threaten judicial reviews, increase costs and influence council’s, and politicians to change their minds. Social media makes it easy for protest groups to gain traction in the media.
Our view is that whilst there will always be people opposed to schemes, for personal reasons by engaging early with communities, local politicians, listening, explaining the benefits and getting the strategic message right early on most issues we can be resolved.
WORKING WITH YOU
We have a lot of experience of supporting the introduction of controversial schemes and understand the dynamics of protest groups and local authorities. We can act as a bridge between the scheme, the community, planners and politicians. To do this we:
Review key messages/ provide advice to your teams
Help identify the key opinion formers in the community and develop a strategic marketing message that is “sellable”
Manage social media, and track comments to prevent inaccurate information from taking hold
Support you with the wider engagement and help manage any difficult conversations
Manage your interactions with protest or lobby groups
Support you with printed materials
WHEN YOU ARE READY LET’S TALK
It is always better to be prepared. You don’t want to be making decisions whilst under fire.
