CRISIS MEDIA MANAGEMENT
We provide crisis media management specifically for schools and academies, often at short notice. How the school or academy trust responds to the media will set the tone for the entire coverage. In many cases, difficult situations can be defused by acting decisively, responding quickly and sensitively. It is important to reassure parents, protect the values of the school and minimise the impact on pupils.
We have experience in dealing with a wide range of issues from safeguarding issues such suicides to bullying to racism and even allegations of illegal behaviour in schools.
HOW WE CAN HELP YOU
We can help you, by either acting on your behalf, managing your social media - taking the pressure from staff or by advising and supporting your team to achieve the best results possible.
If the media are on the phone or your doorstep we will assist you to:
- Determine the best way to respond, and suggest actions you may take to mitigate the issue to stop it gaining wider traction.
- Draft letters to parent’s, write statements and briefing notes to the local authority and the Governors. Sometimes It may help to inform parents before the story breaks in others it may be better to wait and respond reactively. We can help you determine the best course of action.
- We can monitor the issue as it develops in social media and cyberspace and, if you wish, deal directly with the journalists on your behalf. Depending on the issue journalists have to follow various codes of practice and we can assist you ensure that they follow the recognised guidelines.
- We can help you if your school looks likely to be door-stepped by broadcast teams.

RATES FOR ACADEMIES AND SCHOOLS
We understand that schools are under constant financial pressure and money is tight so we have two packages for Schools, Academies or Trusts – so you can know what the costs will be.
Day by Day rate – We can be employed on a day rate basis. The longer the crisis the more you pay but you have maximum flexibility and can be called at short notice.
Crisis by crisis basis – We also have the option of working on a flat rate basis for each crisis and we’ll work end to end supporting you in whatever you need to get the best communications outcome- no matter how long it takes. This also includes preparation work in advance so we understand your issues and a post-crisis assessment. It means you have the security of knowing that you'll have the support you need if the worst happens.

POST CRISIS ASSESSMENT
At the end of each assignment we’ll always undertake a post-crisis assessment - what has been said- what could have been done better - which we’ll send to you. So that if “lightning strikes twice” you’ll be better prepared.
